Most of these gummy dog treats follow the same basic recipe above, except you’ll replace the tuna with the other options.

  • Use bone broth in place of the water & add a bit of parsley for a tasty spin on gummy treats!
  • Of course, you can always go with good old chicken stock, either to replace the water or on its own with the gelatin.
  • Mix in a can of chicken (like the kind you use for chicken salad) instead of tuna!
  • Unsweetened apple sauce in place of the tuna makes a tasty & sweet treat for pups! Check out this how-to.
  • You can also use beef gelatin and canned dog food to make a blueberry venison & sweet potato gummy.

You can also use just use the gelatin, water & some healthy herbs or spices. A few to try include:

Just remember to talk to your vet before adding herbs and spices to your dog’s regimen, especially if he has a preexisting medical condition.

Honestly, the options are only limited to your imagination (and what’s safe for dogs, so don’t go mixing up a chocolate onion treat, not that you’d want to!).

Just remember these basic guidelines for making homemade gummy treats:

  • Gelatin is always your base, so grab a big jar of it to keep on hand.
  • You always need some sort of liquid, be it water, broth, or something else you prefer to use.
  • Your third ingredient can be anything you want (or nothing at all!) but remember, if it’s liquid, you’ll need to compensate by reducing your water.

Gelatin is fantastic for dogs, so try adding homemade gummy dog training treat recipes into the mix on a regular basis.
